Trauma Responsive Schools: Foundation & Application: 8:30 am - 4:00 pm

Trauma responsive Schools: Foundation & Application
It is estimated that one in four children experience trauma.
 That number has likely increased due to numerous, sudden and drastic changes - bringing mental stress, loss and turmoil into our lives.

This one day training combines 2 three-hour workshops designed to give educators the tools needed to create effective learning environments that support the needs of traumatized students. Join us for this highly interactive learning opportunity incorporating videos, music, and discussion to increase the level of impact and application.

Understanding neurological and psychological development is an imperative part of working effectively with all students. To apply effective strategies, educators must:
Foundation Outcomes:

  • be prepared to effectively serve this population
  • understand the diverse experiences of children to better serve them
  • make adjustments to interactions with students
  • design intentional strategies to engage traumatized students
  • Tools for purposeful and solution focused teaming that supports educators education will be discussed in order to achieve continuous improvement and accountability.
Maintaining clear role definition, an informed perception of student learning capabilities, and specific curricular strategies, assists with rigor and engagement.
Application Outcomes:
  • Recognize risk factors for systemic impact due to roles that are not clearly defined;
  • Outline a structured plan to intentionally position your team for the establishment of solution-focused momentum moving forward.
  • Tools for purposeful and solution focused teaming that supports educators education will be discussed in order to achieve continuous improvement and accountability.

During this interactive session, Administrators and teams will focus on the impacts of trauma on the learning environment and will return to their buildings with a plan for addressing them. The power of this workshop is in the team approach to examining current practices and defining roles to impact change.

Who should attend:   Administrators, Counselors, Coaches, and School Leadership Team - any building leaders.
