Iowa ASCD is partnering with NIET (National Institute for Excellence in Teaching) to provide a one day workshop.
Connecting What to Teach with How to Teach It!
In many cases, how you present the content is more important than what you present. Students latch onto content that is packaged in an interesting and engaging way.
By clearly defining effective teaching and student-centered instruction, it provides teachers with a roadmap for strengthening their practice and facilities a common language for observation, feedback, and support while fostering collaboration around best instructional practices.
Participants will:
  • Deepen their understanding of interconnectedness of Instructional Framework indicators that promote student engagement and deep understanding.
  • Focus on presenting instructional content, thinking and problem solving.
  • Be able to purposefully plan for and support Presenting Instruction Content, thinking and problem-solving within the five steps of a lesson in order to strengthen student engagement in their learning.
Participants will walk away with:
  • knowledge of the 5 steps of a lesson
  • recognizing  indicators of student engagement
  • understanding connections for thinking & problem-solving
Who should attend: Bring a team!
  • Even if you are not using the NIET Instructional Framework, you can incite a team to learn more about Presenting Instructional Content.
  • Consider your superintendent, administrators, principal, TLC leads, instructional coaches, and teacher leaders and for this learning opportunity.
