Welcome Our New Iowa ASCD Directors
Dr. Angela Hanson - Jodi Grover - Lora Rasey
Welcome Dr. Angela Hanson, representing the members at large! She is in her fifth year as an administrator, serving previously as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction in Oskaloosa and now the Director of School Improvement in the Spencer Community School District. She has focused on high quality teaching and learning, including professional learning communities, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, Teacher Leadership and Compensation, and student-centered instructional coaching, standards-referenced grading, instructional frameworks, evidence-based practices, navigation of on-line learning, and leadership through a pandemic. She also served as principal of Oskaloosa's Online Academy. She is passionate about empowering teachers and other leaders so that they, in turn, can empower students and communities.
Welcome Jodi Grover, representing the members at large! She is presently the teacher education coordination lead at Upper Iowa University, where she oversees the teacher education program in Fayette and regional center programs in Des Moines, Waterloo, and Bettendorf. Jodi is a member of the Iowa Association of Colleges for Teacher Education and clerked in the Iowa Senate for Senator Brian Schoenjahn for ten years. Because of those experiences, she assisted Iowa ASCD with legislative advocacy by arranging informative sessions with legislators and interpreting educational-relational issues. She also serves as the Advance Associate for the Executive Office of the President and has traveled around the world in support of the Biden-Harris administration.
Welcome Lora Rasey, President- Elect. She brings many experiences that will provide strong leadership for Iowa ASCD. Lora served 15 years as a teacher, leader, and administrator in parochial education. She has also been a professional development consultant and course coordinator at Heartland AEA 11, the curriculum and student services director of the Saydel Community School District, and most recently was the TLC education program consultant at the Iowa Department of Education, from which she recently retired. She has been a developer and trainer of Iowa Evaluator and Data-Driven Leadership, trainer for Focused Conversations, and a developer and implementer of the Statewide Instructional Framework. She has also coordinated Iowa's Principal Leadership Trainer Program with the New York Leadership Academy.
