Meet Your Iowa ASCD Team - Becky Martin
This month meet Becky Martin.
Now retired, or maybe just “rewired,” Becky was the Professional Development Facilitator for the Cedar Rapids Community School District. Her background includes design, delivery, and management of professional learning programs. While with Cedar Rapids, she directed professional learning for staff and also worked in the areas of school improvement, data-informed decisions, and continuous improvement. She was instrumental in the planning and implementation of the PLC initiative for the district focusing on curriculum, assessment, and instruction.
Becky has been a member of Iowa ASCD for twelve years and serves on the Iowa ASCD Board of Directors as the immediate Past-President as well as assistant to the executive director. She is a master at managing all the events provided and assuring the organization learns, teaches, and leads.
Becky Martin shared the following regarding her work on the Iowa ASCD Board: “My beliefs are aligned with the beliefs of Iowa ASCD - those being a commitment to excellence by being responsive, proactive, collaborative, and acting with integrity. Educators are challenged not only by increased demands with limited funding, but also with changing demographics of students in Iowa. This requires innovative district and classroom approaches in order to support staff and assure success of all students and preparation for the future.”
One of the strengths and goals of Iowa ASCD is to be responsive to the needs of its members and to provide a resource of current information for professionals in education. Becky Martin works tirelessly to assure high quality events, webinars, resources, tweets, Facebook postings, the newsletters and website – all are evidence of her priority.
We thank Past-President Becky Martin for her leadership!!
